Zimbabwe Relief
The reality for the people of Zimbabwe is dire: the once stable, and exemplary country in Southern Africa has been hit by a devastating social, economic and infrastructural breakdown. It is estimated that of the 12 million people living in Zimbabwe, over 40% of the population does not have the means to provide even the most basic sustenance for themselves. A decade long agricultural crisis has created an extreme food shortage, and astronomical inflation rate of millions of percentages has ultimately led to the elimination of the national currency. Only those few who have access to hard currency have access to goods, leaving millions in dire need of food and livelihood.
Sanitary conditions and water supply has deteriorated to non-existence and caused a severe cholera pandemic, killing over 5.000 people in just a couple of months.
Through this project, HHA through local churches will distribute maize meal, cooking oil, pulses (similar to lentils), and chlorine tablets for water purification, as well as provide training in alternative conservation farming methods to bring the lives of these people on track again. A budget of 100 US-$ per family, totalling 200.000 US-$, will make this possible. This is one of the most wonderful opportunities for the HHA and the Church to have a lasting impact on the re-building of a nation and show that God really cares.
