Play Therapy Facility for Naledi CDC
A three-member team from the Oskaloosa First Church of the Nazarene in Iowa, USA, arrived in South Africa on 14 February 2010 to erect a play therapy counselling facility at the Naledi Child Development Centre. Volunteers from the Naledi CDC have been on a play therapy training course that would require them to do one-on-one play therapy counselling with children who are emotionally wounded, due the their past and present experiences.
The cement pad and foundation for the new building were laid by Anton and Carolyn Hol, along with several young men from the Naledi Church, before the team’s arrival. The Hols also picked up the portable building and transported it on a trailer to the building site in advance. The team assembled the building and put in a foam ceiling for insulation and carpet tiles on the floor. The building project was completed on 18 February. The building was dedicated on Friday, 26 February, by Pastor Lebogang Pule, pastor of the Naledi Church of the Nazarene, which hosts the CDC. Pule thanked the team members for their work and prayed for their safe return to the USA. “We are reaping the results. The CDC will continue strengthening its work in our community, and the Church's ministry is going to grow. Last Sunday we enrolled more than 20 kids in our Children's Church. Thank you !” |
